AMT Small Game Hunter
« on: March 05, 2009, 04:57:33 PM »
Just bought an AMT Small Game Hunter. Its a copy of the Ruger 10/22, made entirely out of stainless. Its a heavy beast! All 10/22 aftermarket parts will fit too

Also, after much soul-searching and internet browsing, I decided on a (sorry Ken!) Nikko Stirling Nite Eater 8x56 scope.
Have been running 3-9x40's on most of my rifles, and find that the scope tends to stay at 7-8x damn near all the time. And I'm thinking that the x56 bit will mean a nice bright picture at 1am!
Some specs on scope (from Nikko Stirling website) is 30mm tube, saddle focus (adj objective I assume?)

Stay tuned for pics - tomorrow when I pick it all up!

I love my job - went to brothers farm at lunch time (REALLY extended lunch break) and burnt thru 100 rounds. Scary!

Whats amazing is that the groups at 50(ish) yards were all the size of a 10cent peice. As we were sighting it in the group size remained the same, just moved.... then moved into the bullseye.
Should note that we were shooting from bipod. I can't do that offhand!

A little fine tuning and holy shit I've got a GREAT rifle!

That barcode you can see on one of the photos did have a price - $1199.
But got it for $800. Expensive day, especially when you add in scope/bipod/1000 rounds ammo/2 LED lenser headlamps... etc etc etc
